We educate navigators, we inspire defenders of the sea

In the land activities, we make sure that our young midshipmen learn relevant aspects of navigation in a fun way. That is why we have prepared many interesting workshops:

Regatta game: we have developed an original game that we apply at different levels to teach our students to visually perceive how navigation works in relation to the wind. They can play from basic level to understand how boats move with the help of the wind, up to advanced level to develop regatta strategies.

Knots: knots are a fundamental part of sailing. First, we hold a knot workshop on land and later we practice them daily when we rig the boats. Click HERE to discover the knots we use the most.

Pulleys: pulleys have been a fundamental tool for sailing navigation. They multiply the force and reduce the effort needed to move the sails. We have developed a workshop in which students understand how the different pulley systems work and where they are applied. Click HERE to discover our workshop.

Orientation: orientation in navigation is essential. We have planned several activities with the compass so that our sailors learn to use the compass and understand the headings. First, we teach them in a fun workshop and then we apply it in the weekend gymkhana to find the treasure.

Morse: the Morse communication system has been key in naval communication throughout history, and in fact it is still used with flags today. To our future navigators, we teach what it consists of and how it works. We make them some fun games in which they have to discover secret messages through the Morse system applied with sound signals and with the flags of the current system.

Sextant: the sextant has been the main instrument for calculating the position of a vessel at sea for centuries, using the sun and the stars as an aid. Although determining the exact position is complex, we teach you to use it in a simple way so that you can appreciate and learn about this instrument.

Log: the log is a basic but effective instrument that ships have used since the late 16th century to measure speed. We have invented a clever game so that they learn to use it and remember it forever because speed at sea is measured in knots.

Knowledge of the environment: knowing the surroundings is important for navigating well. We make a program to teach in a simple way how the wind, tides work, and how to interpret the weather report.

Nautical gymkhana: we usually end the week with a themed activity in which we include a gymkhana so that our students can reinforce all the knowledge they have been acquiring to manage to find the longed-for treasure. The philosophy of the camp is not competition, but teamwork, so reaching the goal is a challenge for the entire team.

At the end of the camp we put a badge on their diploma so that they remember this activity.

We are sure that it will be one of the most special memories of your summer
