CAPITAN KANELA EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
We don’t just teach sailing; we teach children to grow
That’s why we’ve created Captain Kanela, a character who accompanies our participants throughout their experience and gives meaning to every activity. This character was created to provide a common thread running through all the information our participants receive. Through drawings, scenes and captions, he becomes a positive role model for the children, fostering values such as respect, hard work, independence, camaraderie and a love for the sea. Especially for younger children, the aim of this school mascot is for participants to see him as a character to look up to.

Did you know that our aim was for every child to be able to identify with him?
Our aim was for every child to be able to identify with our captain. That is why we have avoided associating him with a specific gender. His most distinctive feature – the colour of his eyes – changes in each illustration, symbolising diversity and inclusion.
Our captain represents all our participants and reinforces the values we wish to convey.
At the end of the camp, we’ll add a badge to their certificate so they’ll remember this activity.
