On this tour, we’ll enjoy the fabulous landscapes and tranquil waters of the Guadiana River. We’ll tell you about the region’s incredible naval history and show you the spectacular natural enclave of the lower Guadiana.

The surroundings are beautiful. We depart from Isla Canela and travel along the Guadiana River, reaching as far as the International Bridge. The first part of the tour follows the coast, sailing along the shoreline and past the beautiful, unspoiled beaches at the river mouth before entering the river. Along the way, we pass the Portuguese town of Vila Real de Santo António, the marshes of the Lower Guadiana Natural Park, the Castro Marim Marshes with the imposing town and its fortresses in the background, and the magnificent town of Ayamonte. Continuing on, we reach the International Bridge, and from here the river begins to narrow, and the landscape gradually transforms from marshland to riverbank.

During the tour, there’s an opportunity to stop at a natural beach at the mouth of the Guadiana River and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty, perhaps for a swim or a picnic.

We’ll share fascinating naval history with you, focusing on the various peoples who arrived by sea and the events that have shaped the region, such as the settlement of the Tartessians and Phoenicians, the Romans, the Vikings, the sinking of the Concepción, the Battle of Ayamonte in 1624, and the sinking of the San Bruno.

Recommendations: Bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. If you book a tour longer than two hours, we recommend bringing some snacks.
