KITESURF COURSE<\/span><\/h3>\n

Kitesurfing is a water sport that involves riding a small board with the help of a kite. Isla Canela is arguably the best place in Spain to learn and practise it, thanks to its sandbanks, vast stretches of shallow water and the steady thermal breeze that blows in during the afternoons. During the summer months, we take you out on a dinghy to the sandbanks that form off the beach, away from swimmers, walkers and other water sports enthusiasts: an idyllic place to learn!!!<\/p>\n

The kitesurfing course lasts 8 hours spread over 2 or 3 sessions, depending on conditions. The wind generally picks up in the afternoon, so we usually start the course between 2 pm and 4 pm and run sessions of 3 or 4 hours. The only requirement is to be over 10 years old (or weigh at least 30 kg) and be a confident swimmer. During the course, the school will provide all the equipment: kite, board, wetsuit, harness and life jacket.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

COURSE OPTIONS<\/span><\/h3>\n
\n\t

GROUP: This is conducted in groups of 3 or 4 students, with a maximum of two students per kite and one instructor. Generally, the group must be pre-formed to choose this option.<\/p>\n

SEMI-PRIVATE: This is the standard option. The ratio is two people per kite and a maximum of two students per instructor.<\/p>\n

PRIVATE: The ratio is one student per instructor and per kite.<\/p>\n

The quality of teaching is the same across all three options.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

LEVELS<\/span><\/h3>\n

Throughout the course, the student sets the pace, aiming to progress as quickly as possible. Once the course is complete, students can choose to move on to the next course, either in full or in part, with the aim of advancing to the next level and enabling the student to navigate independently. This involves flying kites on land. At this level, our objectives are for the student to learn about the wind window, how to launch the kite safely, basic signals, how to set up and pack away the equipment, and how to activate the safety systems. We start gradually with kites ranging from 1.5 metres to 5 metres.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/span>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t

I handle the kite in the water without a board. This is what we call body dragging. It\u2019s one of the most enjoyable parts of the course, as students start to experience the power of the kite in a safe way. At this level, we prepare you so that getting on the board is as easy as possible. We also start introducing you to handling kites with more power; you\u2019ll learn to handle the kite when the wind window is dynamic, to retrieve the board when it falls, and to handle the kite in the water whilst keeping one hand free to steer the board.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/span>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t

The aim is for the student to be able to ride a few metres and practise kitesurfing independently. The main focus of this level is getting out on the water with the board. To achieve this, we place great emphasis on coordinating the position of the kite with the orientation and position of the board. We ensure that the student acquires sufficient skill to relaunch the kite should it fall into the water and is able to retrieve the board should they leave it behind during a failed attempt. We also ensure that they acquire the knowledge to determine the appropriate kite size based on the student\u2019s weight and the prevailing wind conditions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\n\t<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
